Our Story

Southern Housepitality opened a 7500 sq. ft. showroom in 2006 and continues to provide exceptional upscale furniture and customer service to the Greenville community. Our mission is to provide stylish, high quality, upcycled furniture and decor at a fair price. We have 7000+ consignors and continue to grow daily.

Our Process

We carefully curate our inventory to ensure that each item is in excellent condition and meets our high standards. We accept items on consignment everyday and offer a 50/50 split to our consignors. Our team of sales professionals handle all the pricing, staging, and selling aspects for a hassle-free experience.

What do you take on consignment?

We take gently-loved, high quality, clean furniture, artwork, mirrors, rugs, lighting, and decor. Please email us pictures for evaluation for consignment at info@sohogreenville.com.

What items will you not take?

We do not take mattresses, cribs, most baby furniture, furniture made of particle board, appliances, TV's, audio equipment, bedding, window treatments (except curtain panels only), single dishware/glassware that is not decorative, and anything that is NOT "Showroom Ready".

What does "showroom ready" mean?

This means that items must be brought to the store in a condition that you would feel good about placing directly into your home for immediate use. Please dust, clean, vacuum, and repair all items prior to consignment. Items covered in pet hair or with an odor will be refused.

How do I get paid?

Checks are cut monthly and are available on the 11th and include all items sold the month prior.

Checks must be picked up in person with ID.
Checks must be picked up within 6 months from the date generated.
Checks are only valid and kept for 6 months from the date of issue, we cannot reissue expired checks.

Do you take seasonal items?

Yes, we do, but we limit the time of consignment. We also will only keep seasonal items 1 week after a holiday regardless of the date they were consigned. We do a holiday only markdown that differs from regular consignment. Items will be marked to 50% off the day after the holiday. Typically, we begin accepting holiday items six (6) weeks prior to the holiday.

If you don't want your items marked to the 50% off, they must be picked up the day after the holiday.

Do you buy out right?

No, we only take items on consignment.

Do you do layaway?

No, we are unable to do layaway.

Will you hold items I'm interested in?

No, we cannot hold an item, but we do offer a 24-hour Approval.

Can I return something I bought?

All sales are final and "as is". We do not offer returns or exchanges. Please be certain that you have fully inspected the item you are interested in purchasing. We do our best to inspect for any flaws or blemishes.

If you are unsure and would like to try an item in your home, we recommend our "approval process".

What is our "approval process"?

Since all sales are final, we developed this process to allow you to try the item in your home or give you 24 hours to decide on the purchase.

Let the sales associate know you would like to take the item/s on approval.
We will take your information and a form of payment to be held for 24 hours.
You will have until end of business the following day to return the item. Items must be returned in the same condition as they were taken. We will void your form of payment OR you may keep the item and we will process your payment at that time.
If you do not return the item in the 24-hour time frame or the item is damaged upon its return, your form of payment will be processed without exception.

What forms of payment do you take?

Mastercard, Visa, Debit, cash or local check.

Do you have pick up and delivery?

Yes, we have a set fee of $85 for any pickup/delivery within a 10-mile driving radius from the store. We charge $5.00 for each additional mile after the first 10 miles. Please call and ask for pricing and availability.

All pick up/delivery is to first floor (no stairs) and easily accessible area (cleared and ready).
This is not "white glove service" so we cannot dismantle or reassemble items bought or consigned.

We reserve the right to provide threshold service if the item does not easily fit through doors, if there are obstacles in the way, or for any reason that could lead to damage of the item or the home.

Will you assemble/disassemble furniture?

We do not assemble/disassemble furniture.

Do I have to make an appointment to consign?

Absolutely not...we want to make this process as convenient and stress-free as possible for you!

If you have smaller items feel free to bring them in at your convenience. We will evaluate on site.

What is the consignor split?

It is a 50/50 split for the price it sells for.

Do I get to set the price?

Unfortunately, no, our knowledgeable SOHO sales staff set the price. We determine the price taking into account our 20+ years of experience, researching, and market demand. We consider style, desirability, condition, age, original price, construction, and uniqueness when setting the price.

What does it cost to consign?

Nothing. Our staff will set up your consignor account. Once you are a consignor you are always a consignor, welcome to the family!

How does the consignment process work?

Email info@sohogreenville.com pictures and descriptions of the items you would be interested in consigning. If you have only small decor items, please bring them in during store hours for evaluation.
We will email you back a list of the items we will accept for consignment within 48 hours.
Once items have been accepted you may schedule a pickup or bring your items to SOHO during regular business hours. If you have large or heavy pieces that you are bringing, please bring help to unload. Our staff is not responsible for loading and unloading your items. As a courtesy, please call before you come so we can make appropriate space in the showroom.
All items will be inventoried, priced, and displayed in the showroom. All prices will be determined by SOHO staff.
Your items will be with us for a period of 120 days under the following markdown schedule:
- Original price for days 1 to 30
- 15% discount for days 31 to 60
- 30% discount for days 61 to 90
- 50% discount for days 91 to 120
At the end of 120 days of consignment any unsold items must either be picked up by the consignor within ten (10) days of completion of consignment term. Upon the 131st day any items not picked up will automatically become the property of Southern Housepitality and may be further discounted, resold, or donated.
Keeping up with dates and unsold inventory is the sole responsibility of the individual consignor. Southern Housepitality bears no responsibility to the consignor for their items after the 131st day in inventory. NO emails or reminders will be generated by SOHO, please access the consignor portal to keep up with your items.

How long do I have to pick up unsold items I want back?

At the end of the 120 day consignment period you have a 10 day grace period to pick items up before they roll into the store account. Once in the store account they may still be picked up if they remain unsold and on site. SOHO reserves the right, per the contract, to donate if we choose.

Will you notify me when my consignment period is complete?

NO, but as a consignor you will have access to your "Consignor Portal" and can see all of your inventory including end dates and sales.

How long do I have to pick up purchased items?

We have limited room and continuously sell and receive inventory, so we ask that all purchased items are picked up no later than 7 days after purchase. We have a delivery service available for your convenience.

Will you load my purchased items in my car for me?

No. if you choose not to have your purchase delivered, please bring your own help to load into your vehicle. You will be responsible for bringing all necessary helpers, blankets and tie downs to move and secure your purchase.
